Why
bother having a vision?
- A well
articulated vision provides both direction and motivation.
- It
helps you decide your priorities, how you should invest your time and
other resources to obtain the best possible return.
- Without
clear direction, you could be driven by urgencies that don't really
matter in the long run. How would you know?
- Compare
it to having a vision of retiring at age 55. If you are now 45 and have
not saved much for your retirement, you would need to start investing
differently than if you had already saved a lot.
- Without
a vision, you will inevitably be following the lead of your competitors.
Do you want to follow or lead them?
- With
clarity of direction, your team should waste less time, work more productively
and achieve much more.
- It
is hard to measure progress if you don't know where you are going. Without
a feeling of progress, people become de-motivated.
