Creativity
- Possible Strengths
Do you have these strengths? How creative are you? If you do not really
demonstrate these creative attributes, perhaps creativity is not one of
your main strengths.
- Innovative
- You are quick to see new ways of tackling a problem, sometimes devising
novel solutions. You have a flair for seeing patterns or unusual perspectives
that others miss. You look for better way of doing things. Otherwise,
you prefer to draw on your past experience to solve problems. You find
it hard to devise a completely fresh or novel approach to a problem
without a lot of input from others.
- Experimenting
- You try new techniques or play with new technology. You enjoy feeling
your way through a problem on the basis of trial and error. You make
discoveries while looking for something else. You prefer to take action
and sort things out as you go rather than thinking through all the angles
beforehand. If less experimenting, you prefer to analyze a problem thoroughly
before trying out various possible solutions. You prefer to ''get it
right first time''.
- Intuitive
- You have a sixth sense or gut feel that a solution will work. You
act on your hunches rather than wait until you have all the facts to
prove your case. If not so intuitive, you prefer to have a new idea
proven to you before you accept it. You want to see the facts behind
the idea first.
- Change
focus - You like a fast changing environment. You feel that
your organization is not changing fast enough and you feel impatient
with colleagues who are slower to grasp new ideas. You are an early
adopter of new ideas and a change champion. If less change focused,
you resent the loss of proven ways to do things. You criticize what
you see as ''hype'' for every new fad or ''flavour of the month''.
Potential
pitfalls
- Disliking
routine - little patience for routine, getting bored quickly
- Impatience
- intolerance with resistance to change
- Impracticality
- generating novel ideas that are impractical
- Inefficiency
- wasting time and other resources by trying too many solutions without
first thinking issues through fully
