Developing
your vision
- Can
you get excited enough about creating your vision to generate enthusiasm
in your team?
- Your
commitment and ability to think creatively will be low if you are just
going through the motions.
- How
will you gather data about emerging trends in your industry, what your
customers and competitors are doing?
- Otherwise
your vision creating exercise could be wishful thinking.
- Involve
as many of your team members as possible - full ownership and commitment
won't be there if you create it with a small group.
- Generate
a list of ideas first, before discussing obstacles in their way.
- Focus
on developing a vision that is concrete, measurable and achievable within
a reasonable time period - 1 to 4 years.
- A vision
is concrete if you know what it will be like to achieve it.
- And
if it differentiates you from your competitors - not being too general.
- Structure
every team member's role so everyone can see direct links between their
work and your vision.
- Build
into your plan regular reviews to see if you need to change your vision
in light of market or internal changes.
