Getting
only negative feedback?
- Are
some of your colleagues or friends more negative than others?
- Some
people do see more negatives than positives in everything.
- Does
that mean that you do nothing positive yourself?
- Can
you list everything you achieved this year, even small things?
- Are
there not more achievements than you gave yourself credit for?
- Have
some people thanked you or given you credit for some things?
- Did
you think they were nothing, but they really appreciated them?
- Are
you therefore discounting some of the positive feedback you get?
- Would
it help to spend more time with your more upbeat colleagues?
- Could
you agree a more structured feedback process so it is more balanced?
- Might
you be reading negative signals into neutral feedback?
- When
our confidence is low, we see all questions as criticism.
- What
personal traits do you have to feel good about? Certainly more than
you might be giving yourself credit for.
- When
we are down on ourselves, we discount our strengths.
- When
people question what you are doing, could you ask what they see as the
pros and cons of your project and your approach to it?
- Always
ask for balanced feedback - positives as well as negatives.
