Leading
teams
- Leading
teams is not the same as managing them.
- Everything
to do with developing people and getting the best performance out of
them is a management activity.
- This
is because managers need to make the best use of all resources to achieve
an existing direction.
- Conversely,
leaders need to develop new directions.
- Being
a team leader, therefore, is not about being their manager.
- Leading
a team means inspiring the team to change direction.
- You
can lead a team in either of two ways:
- By
advocating new directions to your team.
- By
fostering innovation in your team.
- How
can you set an example that encourages creative
thinking in your team and design a culture that fosters
innovation?
