Winding
down?
We pass
through life stages at different rates. Some grow up fast, others slowly.
Some stay young longer, others seem old too soon. We also differ on how
much we resist growing old. Nearly everyone will experience some resistance.
We all have to let go sometime. The only difference is whether we see
it as an opportunity or a problem and whether we plan for it or wait until
it hits us.
- Have
you re-assessed what is really important
to you?
- How
have your values and priorities changed?
- If
they haven't changed, what are you learning about yourself?
- How
have you been developing if everything is still the same?
- Can
you list the gains and losses of winding
down for you?
- How
negative are these implications anyway?
- How
can you minimize their negative impact?
- What
might be the consequences of avoiding a gradual transition?
- Emotionally
intelligent executives are aware of evolving priorities and values,
knowing when to start letting go for new directions.
- Can
you re-frame how you see yourself as a
first step towards dealing with these issues constructively.
