Not My Problem

  • Negative feedback sounds like other people complaining.
  • Its easy to see it as their problem.
  • For colleagues competing with you, it might indeed be their problem.
  • Hence, some of your weaknesses won't be strategic for you - they won't be barriers to your success. They'll be somebody else's issue.
  • But what are your key customers or stakeholders saying?
  • If you're not meeting their needs, then you do have a problem.
  • If you're not getting feedback from them, you're in the dark.
  • How can you reach your goals without knowing if you're on track?
  • The only way to be sure you're on track is to get feedback.
  • Your strategic weaknesses are those bad habits that have the potential to block your path to success.
  • How do you rate your integrity on a 10 point scale - 1 low, 10 high?
  • Integrity, in part, means being honest with yourself.
  • How honest are you with yourself in identifying your strategic weaknesses?
  • What should you do differently to increase your chances of success?
  • How clear are your personal goals and how motivated are you to achieve them?
  • The clearer your goals and the stronger your motivation, the more determined you should be to remove any obstacles in your way - including those within yourself.
